What an amazing year, Little Love’s family! What an amazing year all of you have given to me in this little photography business! Almost a decade ago I started on this journey. I wanted to stay home with my own two children (now 10 and 12) and thought I could make a little money along the way by taking pictures. It was a passion, perhaps even a gift, and it was something I could share. So I did.
Back then I had no studio space, no real formal training, an entry level DSLR and perhaps one chair to use as a prop. Seriously, just one chair! Over the years things have grown and changed – if you come to my studio now you will see I have more chairs than I know what to do with. This little photography business has grown and changed and truly become a magical part or me and my families’ life. And every bit of it has been because of each and every one of you, and the support you have given over the years. I could go on, but for now, lets pause and talk about one year in particular – this one.
Here we go – 2018 – a year in review!

Miles of Smiles!
- 57 Mini Sessions
- 16 Richmond area locations
- 61 new children in the Little Loves’s family
In case you are wondering – and I know you are because I get asked all the time – yes, this the only thing I do professionally, but no I do not work full time. It has been a beautiful arrangement for our family and allowed me the flexibility to serve each of you. Each year, as we grow a little, I am thankful for all the families that choose to come back again and again. And for all the new families that chose to join me – it was 61 sweet, adorable, (mostly) smiling NEW little faces year. You all are amazing.
“OMG!!! They are perfect and beautiful. Thank you so much for your hard work, and quick response. I cannot wait until the next time I come to you.”

Bundles of Cuteness!
- The 100th Newborn
- Named one of Richmond’s Best Newborn Photographers
- 65% boys!
- 7 Second Babies
Newborns are a special part of what I do. It is such an honor that so many parents will allow me to capture those first moments. And I was so excited to share those moments with so many families this year. Perhaps it was the year of the boy, or maybe just here – approximately 65% of those sweet babies were boys, only 35% girls. Lots of bow-ties and blue baby wraps! And among those newborns, seven of them were returning with older siblings who I had also photographed as newborns. Say what?!? Yeah, feeling old over here as I watch your families grow.
“OMG!! I LOVE these! Thank you for being so fabulous! “

Here at Little Love’s we also celebrated two big milestones with our newborn photography. In May, my 100th newborn came to the studio. That’s 100 amazing parents who entrusted me to photograph their precious little ones, and I am so grateful for each one. This year, I was also named one of Richmond’s Best Newborn Photographers by Expertise. What an honor!

Rain, Rain and More Rain!
- 3 sessions in deep fog
- 2 with fancy umbrellas
- 1 mini in the snow
Outside photography always has his moments. Perfect sun-drenched light and dramatic skies mix with crazy wind, unexpected rain, unusually warm days and frigid December mornings. With this year’s record rainfall here in the Richmond metro area, yup, we had rain. If you had a mini session this year, you know, the rain was often not our friend. We rescheduled… a lot… but we made them all work. My appreciation for your flexibility and your patience. And to each family, who despite less than perfect weather, said yes, lets do this… we had some adventures!
‘Thanks you so much for awesome pictures. You made us more beautiful and perfect. You gave me memories for lifetime.”

All the Feels!
- 13 Birthdays celebrated
- 15 Grandparents photographed
- 10 family dogs
- $600 donated to charity
Family photography is about capturing what is important to us and our families. This year we shared so many special moments with grandparents and their new grand-babies – what amazing memories! And to see the special bond so many of those children have with their grandparents – it was a joy! Sweet smiles and giggles for everyone. And the pups…. golden doodles were particularly popular. Including the one dog who managed to jump in the lake before we took a single pictures. Dogs are (almost) always welcome, but their behavior is another story.
And of course, thanks to your support, Little Love’s was again able to donate $600 to the JDRF. Which means, you all have helped raise over $2,000 to support Type 1 Diabetes research.
They are so beautiful! Thank you so much for capturing this special time in our lives. We will definitely see you again 🙂

2018 was year of special moments and beautiful families. SO MANY AMAZING FAMILIES!. You all make my “job” a joy and I am so thankful or each of you. So here’s to 2019, may it be better than the last for all of you. Things here at Little Loves will continue to grow and evolve and I hope you all will continue for the ride. I leave you here – hundreds of smiles, an entire graduating class, some cute dogs, a swim team, a handful of senior portraits, head-shots. moms-to-be, a few logo designs and lots of little newborn fingers and toes.
