Spring Minis {2019} – Family Photography – Richmond, VA

Spring Minis! How sweet they were! Spring is such an amazing time to take pictures. The world is coming back alive and it is usually among the first opportunities I have to get back outside to take pictures, after a long winter in the studio. And of course, it brings so many beautiful families!

Our first set of minis were short and sweet this year at Forest Hill Park. Meet Hayden and Tyler and their beautiful parents. These kids were so precious and the hugs…. all the cuteness!

This is the bright eyed Rylee and her brother Kaleb. They were the perfect models. So well behaved and so cute. I am so glad this family joined me for Spring Minis!

The next weekend of minis brought a whole new adventure and a fantastic new location for pictures – the Virginia State Capitol grounds. They were perfect and brought back so may of my favorite families. First Vivienne and Everett, who are becoming experts at being the big brother and sister to their sweet sister Adeline.

Its always a joy to photograph this character. Clayton keeps me moving and always brings a smile. And the hands in the pockets …. just love it!

This girl is growing up before my eyes and I am sure her mom thinks the same. Stella is six going on sixteen. She has so much spunk and girl, I love that pant suit!

Oh my Caybrie and Camden! Are you seeing all the love they brought to our Spring Mini! Big hugs, big smiles and I adore those matching outfits!

These pictures bring me so much joy. Not because I love a crying baby, but because I love real life and these kids are exactly that. Jack is an amazing big brother to those littles, even if he does not know why little sister Annelise insists on crying. Thanks for smiling big brother Jack and helping manage your crew for our photographs.

What a great crew this is – right down to their adorable labra-doodle. I always enjoy my time with these beautiful girls Kaylee and Miranda and their sweet little brother Caden. This location was just perfect for them and those vibrant blues.

This day finished out with a mini that was really special for me. This is my dear friend Jess and her {growing} family! At the last minute, we slipped them in to capture this amazing time. Can’t wait to meet their little boy. PS – isn’t she stunning!?! Always.

As always, my greatest appreciation to all the amazing families that join me at the minis. And particularly to my VIP Subscribers who manage to fill these minis within hours of being announced each season. It is my pleasure to serve you!

Caroline {11 days new} – Newborn Photography, Richmond, VA

Meet little Caroline, just 11 days new when she joined me in the studio for her newborn photography session. I love how precious her big brother Ben was during our entire photography session. She snuggled right in and he was happy to share the love and the kisses.

I know, that song is playing in my head too! And it fits… Caroline was so very sweet. Those baby cheeks and little button nose.

While so many newborn pictures have sleepy babies, it was a joy to see Caroline flash her beautiful eyes. It was amazing to see her so alert, yet so calm. And here he is again, the amazing big brother Ben, ready with a snuggle and a smile. These two will be such great friends.

These may just be my favorites. I love little Caroline in this sweet green bonnet. And just look at those fingers and toes. Because we all know that newborn baby fingers and toes are the best. What a wonderful newborn photo session with little Caroline – it is such a joy to watch this family grow.

Carter & Virginia {1 Year} – Family Photography – Richmond, VA

This family is awesome and I do enjoy doing family photography sessions with them. They are just every bit of the charm in that traditional southern charm. This is Carter and his sister Virginia, who brought her family for her one year old photography sessions. The last time I saw this family, Carter was just one – and oh how he has grown!

Carter is wide open… it makes him a ton of fun! He doesn’t often slow down. But in the moments when he did, he was so sweet and tender to his little sister Virginia. I mean…. that hug!

And it was a joy to meet this girl. The birthday girl, Virginia was of course, the star of our photo session. And she was perfect. She was so calm and happy. Ready give us a huge smile. Just look at that sweet face – she is beautiful. Happy Birthday Virginia! Thank you for bringing your precious joy and your beautiful family to our session.

Rhett & Evelyn {family} – Children & Family Photography – Richmond, VA

For this family photography session, we chose to come to the lovely Crump Park. It is always a hit with families. This beautiful mamma came into our session a bit worried about her shy little bunnies. They had not always had the best experience with pictures. And it took a few minutes and a bit convincing to get these two cuties warmed up to the camera. But Rhett and Evelyn were worth the wait. Look how wonderful they are together. I love the hugs.

You can see a bit of that shy sweetness coming through. Peek a boo in the fence was popular. But there is also a glowing joy in there too and it was amazing to photograph.

The last request was to duplicate a picture with little Rhett that this family had done of Evelyn. It came out so perfect. He is the best little bunny butt. And just in time for Easter. Such a joy to meet and photograph this lovely parents and their beautiful children.

Luca {11 days new}

Oh sweet Luca! He came to Little Loves at eleven days old for his newborn photography session. He is so sweet. We went with a neutral pallet and I love how they came out. That perfect button nose is just too much.

I adore the way newborns cuddle there little hands. Luca’s fingers are so long… and those feet. They just kept popping up like that. Stripes are my new fav – he looks great in grey.

Baby boys in hats and bowties are so much fun. As our photo session progressed, Luca continued to love those newborn little hand’s right near his face Look how peaceful he sleeps.

Newborns and their parents are always among my favorite images. Those first few weeks are so precious for newborn parents and they can go by in a sleept deprived blur. I hope Lucaa’s parents will look back on these and remember how precious those moments were.

GMS Drama: Peter Pan Jr.

I always enjoy trying my photography skills to things a bit outside my normal wheelhouse. . Particularly when that thing is one of my child’s middle school production of Peter Pan Jr. I was so honored to be invited into the final rehearsal of Goochland Middle School’s fall production of this show. These kids are so talented and so much fun to watch.

It made it extra special that so many of these young actors are friends of one of my children’s and I have known their parents for several years through our school. I was so very impressed with the quality of this production. It was entertaining and even humorous at times.

The entire production was put on by two special seniors and long time members of Goochland Drama. Their heart and souls went into this production of Peter Pan Jr and it showed. Congratulations ladies on a successful production! It was a joy to see and photograph. I heard nothing but rave reviews.

2018: Year in Review

What an amazing year, Little Love’s family! What an amazing year all of you have given to me in this little photography business! Almost a decade ago I started on this journey. I wanted to stay home with my own two children (now 10 and 12) and thought I could make a little money along the way by taking pictures. It was a passion, perhaps even a gift, and it was something I could share. So I did.

Back then I had no studio space, no real formal training, an entry level DSLR and perhaps one chair to use as a prop. Seriously, just one chair! Over the years things have grown and changed – if you come to my studio now you will see I have more chairs than I know what to do with. This little photography business has grown and changed and truly become a magical part or me and my families’ life. And every bit of it has been because of each and every one of you, and the support you have given over the years. I could go on, but for now, lets pause and talk about one year in particular – this one.

Here we go – 2018 – a year in review!

Miles of Smiles!

  • 57 Mini Sessions
  • 16 Richmond area locations
  • 61 new children in the Little Loves’s family

In case you are wondering – and I know you are because I get asked all the time – yes, this the only thing I do professionally, but no I do not work full time. It has been a beautiful arrangement for our family and allowed me the flexibility to serve each of you. Each year, as we grow a little, I am thankful for all the families that choose to come back again and again. And for all the new families that chose to join me – it was 61 sweet, adorable, (mostly) smiling NEW little faces year. You all are amazing.

“OMG!!! They are perfect and beautiful.   Thank you so much for your hard work, and quick response.  I cannot wait until the next time I come to you.”

–K.G.

Bundles of Cuteness!

  • The 100th Newborn
  • Named one of Richmond’s Best Newborn Photographers
  • 65% boys!
  • 7 Second Babies

Newborns are a special part of what I do. It is such an honor that so many parents will allow me to capture those first moments. And I was so excited to share those moments with so many families this year. Perhaps it was the year of the boy, or maybe just here – approximately 65% of those sweet babies were boys, only 35% girls. Lots of bow-ties and blue baby wraps! And among those newborns, seven of them were returning with older siblings who I had also photographed as newborns. Say what?!? Yeah, feeling old over here as I watch your families grow.

“OMG!! I LOVE these! Thank you for being so fabulous! “

– B.B.

Here at Little Love’s we also celebrated two big milestones with our newborn photography. In May, my 100th newborn came to the studio. That’s 100 amazing parents who entrusted me to photograph their precious little ones, and I am so grateful for each one. This year, I was also named one of Richmond’s Best Newborn Photographers by Expertise. What an honor!

Rain, Rain and More Rain!

  • 3 sessions in deep fog
  • 2 with fancy umbrellas
  • 1 mini in the snow

Outside photography always has his moments. Perfect sun-drenched light and dramatic skies mix with crazy wind, unexpected rain, unusually warm days and frigid December mornings. With this year’s record rainfall here in the Richmond metro area, yup, we had rain. If you had a mini session this year, you know, the rain was often not our friend. We rescheduled… a lot… but we made them all work. My appreciation for your flexibility and your patience. And to each family, who despite less than perfect weather, said yes, lets do this… we had some adventures!

‘Thanks you so much for awesome pictures. You made us more beautiful and perfect.  You gave me memories for lifetime.”

– V.G.

All the Feels!

  • 13 Birthdays celebrated
  • 15 Grandparents photographed
  • 10 family dogs
  • $600 donated to charity

Family photography is about capturing what is important to us and our families. This year we shared so many special moments with grandparents and their new grand-babies – what amazing memories! And to see the special bond so many of those children have with their grandparents – it was a joy! Sweet smiles and giggles for everyone. And the pups…. golden doodles were particularly popular. Including the one dog who managed to jump in the lake before we took a single pictures. Dogs are (almost) always welcome, but their behavior is another story.

And of course, thanks to your support, Little Love’s was again able to donate $600 to the JDRF. Which means, you all have helped raise over $2,000 to support Type 1 Diabetes research.

They are so beautiful!  Thank you so much for capturing this special time in our lives. We will definitely see you again  🙂

– K.M.

2018 was year of special moments and beautiful families. SO MANY AMAZING FAMILIES!. You all make my “job” a joy and I am so thankful or each of you. So here’s to 2019, may it be better than the last for all of you. Things here at Little Loves will continue to grow and evolve and I hope you all will continue for the ride. I leave you here – hundreds of smiles, an entire graduating class, some cute dogs, a swim team, a handful of senior portraits, head-shots. moms-to-be, a few logo designs and lots of little newborn fingers and toes.

Thank you
